America's Most Endangered River

Mea culpa. In the book it was a caterpillar drive with impellers. In the movie, it was an MHD drive. See How did the caterpillar drive in âThe Hunt For Red Octoberâ work?.

Oh yes. I have been kidding all along. The only technologically practical way to move that much water is with a canal and the cost and drawbacks are still enormous.

A canal wouldn't work either because you have to go UP from the plains and past the first part of the Rockies.

Hmm... tunnel under the Rockies and on to the coast and then ask the locals to lower buckets on lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ng ropes to get their water... ; - )

You know that book is fiction, right?

And in the book it's just a bunch of impellers, not MHD.

Simply put this would be a trillion dollar project. and would require massive amounts of concrete, digging, pumps, switchgear and electricity to work.
It’s time to get busy then, or Arizona is fucked

Look at projects like all that rail in California, or the new Grand Central LIRR access in NYC, or even back to the Big Dig in Boston and how long they took and you realize you needed to "get busy" 20 years ago to get it done 20 years from now.

Look at the Berlin Airlift. Maybe Trump could save Arizona by air-dropping water jugs from his personal 787 or whatever he's flying these days. He said he's gonna save the little guys.

You're right. You are absolutely, 100% correct.
