This is exactly what's going on right now IMHO. The WMD crap is a ruse to take out Assad. We can eradicate whoever is left later. The inadvertent weapon laying around here and there are small potatoes.

Some of those weapons may have come from Libya, and it's likely some of the weapons used to fragment Lebanon and Iran will stem from Assad's demise:
