America’s Crumbling Infrastructure
One of the key signs that we are in the early stages of an economic collapse and that we are heading towards another Great Depression is America's crumbling infrastructure. The truth is that our infrastructure is literally falling apart all around us.
America's aging infrastructure cannot handle the number of people that we have now. With the population of the United States expected to hit 420 million by 2050, there are serious questions about how the national infrastructure is going to hold up under such a strain.

This is a disaster waiting to happen and Obama as talked about it but there is no money to fix it and Congress would never approve it anyway. It would require another stimulus package and states would sit on it or use it for pork projects as they did with first stimulus. The stimulus worked to some degree but it was not big enough. It is the sure way of jump starting the economy that we cannot afford not to take seriously. Bridges, dams, levies, highways and roads, pipelines, sewer system, power grids, transportation system, railroads are aging and past their life and need repair and would create millions of jobs and is a matter of life for Americans that has gone ignored long enough.

I think this is scare tactic being used by the left right out of Axelrod's campaign book.
There are and have been major infrastructure projects going on all around a 20 mi area near NYC for some time now...

The left wants to make believe that the sky is falling.

Taxes is revenue and revenue would fix it and not tax cuts and cuts in goverenment programs for the poor and creating more poverty and more spending we don't have.

You left before the movie was over. It is not Obama's policies but the Repbulican policies that got us here. Even though jobs of loss, jobs are also created by Obama. Loss is a result of GOP policies already in place when Obama took office. Obama's spending is trying to fix what Bush broke. And it is working. Stimulus worked but a bigger stimulus is needed. Revenue and spending is the answer to economic recovery. Obama has proved himself in the three years in office and that's why he has more the half the country supporting him. The other half did not support him is the first place.
Obama performed a miracle when his policies, that got by the GOP, worked and headed off a depression caused by the GOP.
We need to tax everything like the Romans did and it will have to be the norm from this time forward or else. No other way except tax and more taxes. And not ALL your hard earned money, just a fair share by every body.
Tax cuts for small business just put more money in their hands and not passed on to hiring workers. GOP is blinded by power and greed.

Well there's usually two sides to every story. Obama (and Bush) started off on the wrong foot by pre-framing strict regulation of the funds of the first stimulus. So instead of fixing out infrastructure, the money was used for whatever the hell the state state leaders wanted.
The result was that ConservaRepubs and Independents scratched our heads and said "Where'd all the money go and where are all those "shovel-ready" jobs?"
I mean, SOME of the money went for that purpose but certainly nowhere the amount that was supposed to.
And that handed the Republicans ammunition. Now, the fact that bridges literally collapse under our cars, is irrelevant. It is no longer a physical need. Fixing America is now positioned by the GOP as being a "Liberal Waste".
And how can Obama counter this? Pelosi, Reid and the other whackjob Dems were every bit as guilty as anyone in the GOP, when it came to spending money on something other than promised (Gasp! How shocking!).
So I predict the following:
Either A) The GOP will gain control of both the House and Senate (which I think will happen) and turn this into a Republican cause. Then they'll fix American infrastructure or
B) Congress will be sufficiently split to remain dysfunctional and this will continue to be spun as a "LIberal Issue" (because you know, bridges are SO Liberal!) and nothing will be fixed until a sufficient number of voters die, that fixing stuff will be worth doing.

But you can bet that because of the imcompetence of the Dems, and the natural inclination of Republican politicians to behave exactly the way ALL politicians do, nothing will ever be considered until 2013.
