MLK was not popular with whites while he was alive. He wasn't universally adored by blacks either.

Thankfully, some see the value of his teachings although I'm a bit more of the give 'em a good smack mindset myself.

He was Republican, I believe. Just goes to show you how much the party has changed in a very short time. He and Lincoln both are rolling in their graves and hanging their heads in shame.
