For this decade, unemployment has never hit as high as it is as of February 2009. Alaksa's current unemployment rate stands at 8%

In related news, Sarah Palin REJECTED 30% of the stimulus package money including expansion of unemployment insurance and employment services.

Palin rejects nearly 30 percent of stimulus funds

So those people, the 8% of the labor force of Alaska that is currently accepting unemployment insurance, who are looking for a job but can't find one and who are running out of money due to unemployment running out soon, are going to have NO income thanks to Sarah Palin.

    Sarah has a job.

Naturally any of her Alaskans who don't are just losers as far as she's concerned.

First, its the hardest state in the Union to attract industry/jobs other than fishing, trapping and the oil industry to. I mean it gets deadly cold there, all exports have to go a long distance and they get like 2 months of complete darkness.

Second, there is no income, sales or gas take in AK.

Third, a good part of the industry in ANWR is considered off limits. That would solve their job needs.

Lastly, in AK each adult receives $1,500 for their budget SURPLUS! and $1,800 from the OIL company reserves. So a married couple receives $6,600 a yr for being in AK!

The Federal Government to the Rescue!

As usual, your take on the story doesn't add up. You're trying to say that because she's rejecting Federal money with strings attached, people on unemployment will suffer. Not true. The State has billions of dollars in reserve. They don't need federal money with strings attached, especially since this money has been borrowed from our grandchildren.

So they should do as CA does! Take the money and change none of their behaviors! CA is taxing their productive inhabitants to death and having them move from the country. They openly embrace the illegal alien community that is bleeding CA hospitals, schools, socila services, prisons and welfare systems dry!

I commend Palin for this decision.

This version of our Federal Government is in shambles - a daily parade of inept governing led by perhaps the most incompetent Speaker of the House in modern history.

    Well done Governor Palin.

Alaskans already get a lot back in Alaska's version of socialism.

The oil companies gouge us and spread the wealth up in Alaska.

    Isn't that socialism?

Why are alaskan's getting $ from the oil companies when they don't work for it?

Isn't this robbing the rich to buy the poor's vote?

And we already predicted that Palin would be a failure if gas ever went back down to $2.

It was easy when gas was $4, when your state's only income is from oil and tourism.

Before you go off on a Palin rant, I am still waiting for an apology from you regarding the Chris Dodd AIG fiasco...

If Obama and the congress really gave a shit about the people, they would cut the strings attached with the "stimulus" package .....
