The reason to support Saddam and Iraq was to bring Iran back as a military customer. They figured if the Iranian were in a war with Iraq (a USSR puppet state at the time) they would need spare parts for their US Made equipment. Didn't work out that way. Vietnam, it turns out, had plenty of spare parts for US made equipment.......So then we had to worry about Iran overrunning Iraq (Next door is the Saudi Kingdom), so, guess what? We had to start supplying Saddam's military with Russian Spare parts......

I understand the Iraqi war is highly controversial. I never approved the invasion, nor did the Catholic Church. I am no Bush fan at all. But the democrats were all in voting time and time again to continue the assault or fund the expansion of it. Most Islamic refugees are not from Iraq. According to the site WorldVision, the top five refugee-created nations are as follows: Syria- 6.3 million, Afghanistan- 2.6 million, South Sudan- 2.4 million, Myanmar (Burma)- 1.2 million, Somalia- 1.0 million.
