Advice for Democrats

The job market is getting better. But Democrats understand that the gap between the rich and rest of us is a problem and never been greater. and the rich aren't paying their fair share towards paying for the wars they started, infrastructure, the debt or social programs.

We haven't reversed everything bad the GOP did when they were in power. For example, in 2008 lame duck session the GOP passed a law that said the Post Office had to fund its pension plan for the next 75 years. There is no logical reason the GOP would have done that other than

a. Bankrupt the Post Office so they can privatize it
b. Loot the pension fund when the Post office goes bust.

Similar to what they are doing to the entire government. Bankrupt it so they can kill social security, the epa, public education and medicare, etc.

And break unions. That is part of their plot too. And you middle class righties are clueless to how bad that will be for the rest of us. Who else if not unions do Democrats answer to? Break unions, break all labor. Right to work states are clueless! Get rid of unions and you have no right to your job. Right to work means right to work for less. Or right to fire your ass for no reason.

Do you like 40 hour work weeks, vacation or sick days? Do you like how much you make? Union or not, thank a union for how much you make. This is what righties don't realize. When unions were powerful, non union companies had to keep up with wages. They got free low cost healthcare? Soon so did you too.

Now that unions are only 12% of us, notice our wages haven't gone up because corporations don't have to. Employees pay stayed stagnant the last 20 years if you factor inflation in and the CEO's pay has skirocketted. What can you as a non union employee say about it? NOTHING! But union employees wouild insist on profit sharing.

If you aren't rich yourself, wake up before its too late.

Stagnant wages are a direct result of not having bargaining power. Labor flows to where labor is cheapest and that isn't in this nation. The left's answer is more protection for the working class and the right's answer is for the working class to expect less. Which is why the GOP is set up for failure in the upcoming Presidential race. You saw the Congressional republicans trying to right the ship with their acceptance of the payroll tax holidaythis time around. They see their weak position.

Your post is spot on right in this case.

As far as not engaging them, theres too much disinformation being spewed here to counteract it all, thats true. Pay is not being cut for combat personnel. Failing businesses are not good for the economy. The auto bailouts saved much more non-union jobs than those of union wage earners. All these are truths. All were the antithesis of wing-nut threads.

I would suggest that you recommend to lefties to stick with the truth and simply point out the repeated lies of the wingnuts. When they are not encumbered by honesty, theres no point attempting to auswage their tendency to lie when it suits them. Hence Obama kicking Romney's ass this fall.

Unions lost their power when they demanded more than companies could afford. Unions didn't give a crap if they bankrupted or shut down a company. People realized Unions and the Democrats were responsible for business closing their doors and moving to other countries that appreciate the opportunity for their people to work.

Good, honest, hard working employees are worth their weight in gold. Businesses know that. Demanding $30.00 an hour with full benefits in a competitive business market won't get you hired too quickly unless you show you are worth it. With or without a Union. Personal responsibility and true integrity were handed over to the Unions. Too bad the corruption got to them. At one time they truly helped the Labor movement, now the bosses are too busy attending parties at the White House and rallies around their buddies at their vacation homes in the Caribbean.

Demanded more than their companies could afford? That is so funny. Look at today in non union companies. The CEO used to make 5 times as much as the average worker, now they make 500 times the average worker. And our wages are just about the same as they were back in 1970 when you factor inflation in.

If we were unionized, we would have insisted that we get some of those profits.

You have been brainwashed by the right to think middle class Americans make too much.

What they do is point at a small percentage of people taking advantage of the system in order to get you to think the whole concept of unions is bad. Or they got you convinced that unions are no longer necessary. You guys couldn't be any more wrong. But it would take too much explaining to do and I know you wouldn't agree so why bother.

what is the point of a message board open to all opinions if you are going to ignore half of them?

There are two reasons for coming here. To learn what other folks are thinking and saying

To remedy the flaws in your own thinking by rubbing them up against the ideas of others. One keeps ones mind sharp in the same way one keeps a knife sharp.

If all you want is a circle jerk you are wasting you time.

If you start a thread that says Obama born in Kenya, I will reply by starting another thread titled Republicans being racist again by lying about where Obama was born.

I shouldn't promote your false lies and propoganda.

Yes! This is the perfect example of how Republicans will try to make an issue out of everything and anything between now and the election.

We are definately in an election year!

Now if the GOP would just pick someone for Obama to beat up, we are waiting.

It is a big issue, faggot, it's only a non issue to Obamabots like yourself......

A good company will treat their workers fairly...whether there's a union or not. Sometimes the unions make it too hard for a company to be fair with everyone, especially if the union is costing the company more than they can really afford.

The place i work has a union in the factory, i'm in the office. But ya know what? When we earn Gainsharing, the company pays both the factory and the office personel. In fact, the office workers make more money than the people in the factory, and we have no union! The union we have here is a bunch of crap anyway, and i know after working here 20 years that this company would not treat anyone any different than they do now.

Some people though aren't lucky enough to get in a good company like this. So i do understand the need for unions. It's just too bad the unions have become so corrupt and greedy.

Wrong. A good company will look for every way to maximize profits. And one of their largest expenses is payroll. Without unions, who is going to convince them to share the profits more fairly?

Another thing that will bring up wages is demand and low unemployment. This is why the GOP sent 7 million manufacturing jobs overseas. This is why they don't punish employers who hire the 14 million illegals that are here. And this is why they want to break the unions. I've worked for a lot of non union companies. Trust me, they aren't sharing the profits. They are squeezing more productivity out of us and paying less, or not giving any raises. Not in 10 years! But the companies doing great and the CEO's pay has multiplied. A union ceo can't do that. They must share the profits or risk a strike. That is labor's only weapon. And now union workers only make up 12% of us. Used to be over 30% of Americans were unions. No coincidence wages have not gone up in those same years.

My brother is a vp in charge of giving executives their bonus'. Don't kid yourself. They only give raises and bonus' reluctantly.

Your wages are only as high as they are because of the labor movement and because of unions. It isn't any coincidence that in the past 20 years they have been destroying unions and no one's wages have gone up.

If we let you right wingers control the message, we lose. This is a silly little local story that Rush is trying to blow up out of perportion. How about we talk about Mitch McConnell's record number of filabusters and how that is holding up progress? How come the GOP won't close tax breaks Bush gave to companies that sent their operations overseas? And how Paul Ryan wants to give senior citizens $6k a year and tell them to go by private insurance instead of social security. Or lets talk about how the GOP have raped the social security fund and need to put the money back by ending the Bush tax breaks.

Fuck that little kid and this pussy story.

Fuck your gay rhetoric and pussy propaganda, this is a real story of punk ass gubment overreach......

Probably the biggest reason American wages have remained flat is because approximately 2 billion new workers entered the competitive workplace, beginning in the late 80s and early 90s.

As China and India realized the socialist central planning model was a failure, they began moving toward free market competition. As a result, they opened up their countries and 2 billion people were added to the global manufacturing and services sectors.

Since our total population is only 300 million, we are seriously outweighed in the marketplace. Coupled with our higher wages and benefits, it is easy to see how we are undercut by the competition and why our wages have been flat for so long.

This has been our greatest hindrance to job creation.

No amount of quick fix business tax breaks will change this immovable fact.

No amount of protectionism will change this immovable fact.

It will take some time before these new laborers in the marketplace begin to reach a level where they are consumers of the products and services they are creating. And then they will begin to demand higher wages to meet the standard of living to which they will feel entitled.

We are already seeing the beginning of this phase developing in China and India.

Then, and only then, will our own wages begin to rise with that tide of labor again.

You wouldn't want to deny the darkies the same benefits of capitalism we enjoy, now would you? Because protectionism prevents their access to those benefits, and ultimately fails anyway.

Don't be a rock in the stream of human progress.

In other words, ignore anything a detractor might say.

"Great example", my ass.
You need to make up your weak mind.

Is the job market getting better or not?

The job market is getting better. But Democrats understand that the gap between the rich and rest of us is a problem and never been greater. and the rich aren't paying their fair share towards paying for the wars they started, infrastructure, the debt or social programs.
Maybe they should pass legislation to make it a more business friendly environment so that people on the bottom can work there way to the top, instead of playing class warfare and passing regulation that strangles businesses. It's not up to the democrats to choose who should have what and what not, that is not a free market, that is marxism. the rich pay over 70% or the tax burden, more then the fair share, while the poor dont pay anything, now who is not paying a fair share? And dont forget that the wars you speak of where authorized by democrats, bush could nopt have went to war without democrat approval, it wasn't until they became unpopular that those of you on the left tried to make them to be all about Bush.

The post office is a private entity and has no right to tax payer funding.
Similar to what they are doing to the entire government. Bankrupt it so they can kill social security, the epa, public education and medicare, etc.
Who just spent 5 trillion in 3-1/2 years and is asking for 4 trillion more in this next budget? If anyone is bankrupting america it is the democrats, while the conservatives in the congress are trying to put a stop to it.

If you want to be beholden to a union for work, go for it, but dont expect the rest of us to tolerate the unions having a say so in politics. That in itself is the real reason conservatives are trying to limit union powers, it has nothing to do with the workers, it has everything to do with influence in washington and legislation.

Do you like 40 hour work weeks, vacation or sick days? Do you like how much you make? Union or not, thank a union for how much you make. This is what righties don't realize. When unions were powerful, non union companies had to keep up with wages. They got free low cost healthcare? Soon so did you too.
If every union just vanished in america, we would still have those things, that stuff was put in place many years ago when unions actually did serve a purpose to the workers, now all they do is serve themselves out of washington while fooling you into believing they serve you.

And as a business owner I would tell them to go pound sand, and then I would move my business to a right to work state and lay off the same union members who demanded a cut of my profits. And what could they do about it? Abso-fucking-lutley nothing but bitch and moan

If you aren't rich yourself, wake up before its too late.
If you aren't rich yourself, maybe you should get into a new line of work and try harder instead of blaming someone else for your short comings, you know...that whole personal responsibility thing those of you on the left forgot about years ago?

so Bo i guess your going to now tell me that the Democrats punish Employers for hiring Illegals?.......because if you are.....you had better come out here and tell these Companies out here.....

You don't have to reply to the demonstrably idiotic. But when some one explains their ideas it does behove you to listen. You might actually learn something

As long as democrats can rely on the left wing media to cover their asses and not be outraged about any affront to freedom and not investigate or question democrat policies they are good to go with any crazy agenda.

LEFT WING big corporations? Another fantasy. I see more obscenities from the "family values" party members than I hear after the Gators lose.

I listen to every thing Obama says because it's all just a horse shit lie and I ignore it. Just think, in only a little more than 10 months his Democratic ass will be out of office and I hope all the Democrats running for re-election in Congress get tossed out with him. Democrats have really fucked up this country.
