A Letter to the Undecided Voter

I respect that you are still thinking about things, and looking for a bit of truth in a season of exaggerations and partisanship.

I spent some years training to be a political scientist. We're a strange bunch. We actually try to separate fact from fiction. And although most of us are partisan, we don't like the mudslinging, the 'gotcha" politics, or the trivial pursuit politics any more than you do.

...

The economy is an issue that is important to everybody, but the economy is incredibly confusing right now. It's absolutely true and easy to demonstrate to everybody, that the economy has just been through the biggest crisis in American history since the Great Depression. It's absolutely true that things are getting better slowly, although some purely partisan folks do not want to believe the facts. But I don't think you are a dedicated watcher of Fox News, or a dedicated listener to Rush Limbaugh; if you were, you would not be Undecided.

Monica Bauer: A Letter to the Undecided Voter

Here's my letter:

Dear undecided voter,

It's the End of October. Less than two weeks until the election. The candidates aren't changing. The issues aren't changing. Make a decision.

Thank you.

The USMB Oddball Dude strikes again!!!

Dean undecided voter,

Are you fucking stupid? Do us a favor, go to your local post office right now and vote, just write your candidate on a blank piece of paper and slip it in the Mail slot, that's how it works.

Seriously.

from the person who doesn't think the supreme court is the arbiter of what is constitutional.

The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.

Still trying to see anything about arbiter, interpretation etc... nope.. still not there...

But this is still there...
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Just because the court and the government grabbed that power for themselves, does not mean it was granted to them... Sorry Jill

yes it does. The government works in our name. We the people, are the government.

In the end votes not money decide an election. If you can't persuade people to vote like you .. you lose

We the people gave up that responsibility a long time ago. The government hasn't worked in our name at any point in my lifetime, that's for sure.

People give up their responsibility of being informed and involved. We the people are the government. It acts in our name. If the process of elctions is broken or corrupted we have no one else to blame but ourselves.

I don't believe out system of government is broken. I think the process we use to govern is broken and corrupted, but that reflects a populace that has chosen to stay divided a highly partisan in ways that make governing, which involves respect for differences and compromise for the greater good, impossible.

We are to blame, not some faceless Oligarchy

Dear idiot asshole.. The government does not have free reign, even if a group of 50.000001% of citizens want it to be or want it to do something.... The government is empowered by the states through the constitution... SPECIFICALLY and STRICTLY through the Constitution... its powers where purposely strong but specifically limited..

You sir, are an imbecile for not understanding and knowing this
