Does consumerism make us more (or less) critical about toys?

Here's an exchange about the symbolic value of toys. The exchange is between Shiva (Hindu god of destruction) and the 'Xenomorph' (fictional super-intelligent predatory alien-creature from the iconic American sci-fi horror-film franchise Alien, which includes the 2017 film Alien: Covenant); the exchange is also between Michael Myers (fictional horror-film 'ghoul' from the iconic Halloween film franchise) and the Whore of Babylon (Biblical messenger of gluttony and pride); the exchange concludes with an evaluative debate between God (folkloric metaphysical 'creator/benefactor' of all life) and Satan (adversary of Earth).

Perhaps capitalism generates a great deal of calligraphy, but let's hope President Trump agrees...

Cheers,

Americans love toys. A special toy was of a triplet of mechanically-moving wheeled penguin models climbing up a mechanized escalator and then sliding down a descending winding 'ice-ramp.' This 'Penguin-Slide' model-toy was obviously a parody of the iconic causality-meditative Rube-Goldberg machine and represented human consciousness regarding the Ice Age. Do capitalism-marketed toys (representative of consumerism) truly illuminate the complex facets of the human psyche (and all its civilization anxieties)?

SHIVA: Do you think the Penguin-Slide model is symbolic?
XENO: Humanity is wasteful, and this model-toy represents repentance!
SHIVA: So, humanity is filled with regret...
XENO: Doesn't imagination 'soothe' regret?
SHIVA: Capitalism obviously has created mistakes...
XENO: Sure. Perhaps capitalism will promote the generation of 'profitable' clones.
SHIVA: I don't think any Orwellian 'nightmare' will become reality!
XENO: Consider that an achievement of creativity.
SHIVA: So storytelling has warded off the 'demons' of human frailty.
XENO: Yes, doom-thinking does create depression!
SHIVA: The Penguin-Slide model-toy symbolizes evolution.
XENO: That's what future archaeologists will say...
SHIVA: What will they say about films such as Ice Age and Robots?
XENO: This all reminds me of Homer's Odyssey.
SHIVA: The Odyssey is a tale of imagination-indulgence.
XENO: A reprise from war and violence perhaps...
SHIVA: The Penguin-Slide model is a replica then of consumerism.
XENO: Every civilization has its 'lucky-charms.'

MICHAEL MYERS: The Penguin-Slide model-toy symbolizes hope.
WHORE OF BABYLON: It's a 'relic' of manmade guilt!
MICHAEL MYERS: Can there be 'relics' of capitalism?
WHORE OF BABYLON: Capitalism is dynamic but also disposable.
MICHAEL MYERS: Are you referring to Orwellian visions of waste?
WHORE OF BABYLON: Yes! I'm referring to notions of apathy.
MICHAEL MYERS: The Penguin-Slide model-toy symbolizes history then.
WHORE OF BABYLON: Every civilization has its mistakes (e.g., eco-pollution).
MICHAEL MYERS: Can toys help?
WHORE OF BABYLON: Sure. However, I'd be wary of 'imagination-indulgence.'
MICHAEL MYERS: Let's be sure these 'consumerism artefacts' are not childish!
WHORE OF BABYLON: No civilization artefact is childish/useless.
MICHAEL MYERS: What about sports-hero idol-worship (e.g., baseball cards)?
WHORE OF BABYLON: Professional/collegiate sports represent competitive spirit.
MICHAEL MYERS: So are athlete-jerseys/merchandise considered vanities?
WHORE OF BABYLON: Not if they're culture-compasses (e.g., OJ Simpson documentaries)...

It seems that Shiva and the Xenomorph are concerned about why the iconic Penguin-Slide model-toy symbolizes capitalism system idealism. It seems that Michael Myers and the Whore of Babylon are concerned about why the Penguin-Slide model-toy symbolizes consumerism frills. Regardless of who is actually 'correct,' replicas/models/toys about consumerism-civilization represent commerce imagination and even ethics. We use these toys (and movies such as Toy Story) to understand/appreciate commerce intelligence. These civilization artefacts (e.g., replicas of the Penn State Nittany Lions college-football stadium) are totems of psychiatry. So do they remind us of the best features of capitalism and media?

GOD: Why did the American movie superstar Tom Hanks make Toy Story?
SATAN: Hanks understood the modernism relevance of 'replicas.'
GOD: Replicas are certainly symbolic for the era of genetic-cloning discussions.
SATAN: Consumerism creates ideas about what is exactly is 'expendable.'
GOD: Americans make films such as Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps as a backlash!
SATAN: Is capitalism a factory?
GOD: Archaeologists in the future might evaluate the symbolism of Netflix...
SATAN: Yes, computers have made intellectual properties great 'totems.'
GOD: That's why consumerism-aesthetics are an important 'intellectual subject.'
SATAN: Is there really an 'aesthetic' to convenience servicing (e.g., eTrade)?
GOD: There must be, lest we indulge in gluttony and sloth (e.g., Netgrocer.com).
SATAN: Perhaps 9/11 awakened the world to the reality of anti-capitalism sentiment.
GOD: That's why toys remind us of optimism (they're peaceful totems about commerce).
SATAN: Let's watch Dances with Wolves on Netflix...
