First of all, that's hardly the case when Abbas refused to negogiate with Israel while Israel is building settlements, and refused generous offers by Olmert. But more than that, why is someone who wants to make peace with Israel a traitor to the Arab people? That's the mindset that killed Sadat (and Rabin on the Israeli side)? This response by Sunni-Man shows why there will never be peace.
Abbas is willing to surrender to Israel and give away the right of his people.
Traitor fits.
And any Israeli willing to give up the West Bank is also called a traitor. This is exactly why there will never be peace. Neither side is willing to make compromises. I'm willing to bet, Mr. Tinmore, that you are not married if you don't know about compromise.
Do you think it would be easy to give up the West Bank? That is the heartland of the Jewish People, not Tel-Aviv. But many Israelis are willing to do that if it meant bringing peace to the region, and giving up the occupation. But once a Palestinian brings up the "right of return" (which Abbas hasn't given up yet), then Israelis think, "You see that? They haven't given up their dream of destroying Israel. A Palestine on the West Bank is just a first step in their ultimate plan." So realistically Mr. Tinmore, what do you want Israel to do? Commit suicide and give over their whole country to Hamas? And the Muslim fanatics that run Hamas would let their new country be run secularly, and not butcher the Jews? Is that what you really think, after what happened in Alexandria over the weekend?
So, you see both sides as unwilling to negotiate?
Continue discussing with PF ForeverYoung43. Let's see if your two sided approach gets you anywhere since you are clearly more willing than he is to discuss.
So, to your mind the Jews are intractable like this as well? "Both sides" you say and you do not qualify either side, thus giving the impression that both sides are equally to fault for the inability to negotiate. That's what I see ForeverYoung43, am I wrong here?
If that is the case, then I strongly disagree with you ForeverYoung43, and would like to see you get somewhere with PF as proof that Hamas is no more unwilling than Israel.
Are you no more unwilling than PF ForeverYoung43?
