(CNSNews.com) - Since January 2009, when Barack Obama was inaugurated as president, the United States has seen 54 straight months with the unemployment rate at 7.5 percent or higher, which is the longest stretch of unemployment at or above that rate since 1948, when the Bureau of Labor Statistics started calculating the national unemployment rate.

Today, BLS reported that the seasonally adjusted national unemployment rate for June was 7.6 percent, the same it was in May.

In December 2008, the month after Obama was first elected and the month before he was inaugurated, unemployment was 7.3 percent. In January 2009, it climbed to 7.8 percent. In February, the month Obama signed what the Congressional Budget Office would later determine was an $830 billion economic stimulus law, the unemployment rate climbed to 8.3 percent.

In the Obama era, the unemployment rate peaked at 10.0 percent in October 2010. It did not dip below 9 percent until October 2011, when it hit 8.9 percent. From August to September 2012, it dropped from 8.1 percent to 7.8 percent—the first time during Obama’s tenure it went under 8 percent.

As Figure 1 shows, even with the large prototypical package, the unemployment rate in 2010Q4 is predicted to be approximately 7.0%, which is well below the approximately 8.8% that would result in the absence of a plan.1
Reality is, even with the plan it went well above the 8.8% they said might occur without the plan.

August 3rd last year, Team Obama said in ?09 stimulus would have unemployment below 6% by 2012 | WashingtonExaminer.com

Didn't happen in 2012, still isn't happening.

Wouldn't it be nice if after each election everything returned to zero like a new game, unemployment, the debt, the budget everything went to back to 000, if that were to happen we might be able to judge a new president's record with some objectivity. But the economy doesn't suddenly change with a new president and new Congress. FDR had a Congress that tried to help the nation, unlike the present one, and even FDR's unemployment figures were worse and lasted longer but still the people kept electing him and he is now rated the greatest president. Maybe the American people understand economics better than some think?

Our current yearly deficit is now clocking in at about a third of what it was 5 years ago. This administration has actually overseen 4 straight years of shrinking deficits. The previous administration kept showing increasing deficits.

We're looking at 40 straight months of private sector job growth in a fragile but steady recovery. That's because we didn't go the way of austerity only like in Europe, where they got depression in some countries and double-dip recessions in others.

That means President Obama's stimulus worked. What's more, it should have been even bigger in order to deal with the scale of the damage that was left to him by the failed policies of George W. Bush and the Republicans, who were the first party in history to decide to fight two simultaneous wars, one of which now counts as the longest war in our history and in a country without a military. Have fun trying to explain that to your grandchildren years from now.

Yup, 50 straight months of 7.5%+ of unemployment. Brought to you by George W. Bush, one of the most ineffective Presidents the United States has ever known.

The blame rests squarely on him, and NOT the black janitor who was hired to clean all the shit off the wall that the previous guy left him.
