2020 Has Been A Great Year To Be An American, If You Are A Billionaire
Since the pandemic began in March, America’s 651 billionaires have seen their wealth jump by over $1 trillion, or more than one-third. They are now worth more than $4 trillion.
Average Americans also had a lot going on in 2020, during that same time, 15 million Americans contracted COVID-19 and 284,000 people died from it. While that many people dying seems important, only family members and friends feel the loss. After all, there are still roughly 330 million men, women and children alive in America.
Had that $1 trillion been divvied up among the roughly 330 million people still alive in America, rather than the already-incredibly-wealthy 651 billionaires, it would have provided a stimulus check of $3,000 to every one of those 330 million men, women and children in America. That would sure as he11 have kept the economy firing on all its cylinders, lock-downs and all.
Fortunately, those 1 trillion-plus-dollars went, instead, to the 651 people who need it most. Which should thrill the conservatives and centrists, most of whom measure the prosperity of the country by the increase in average wealth. Just as these same people ignore other facts that contradict their steadfast beliefs, they also ignore the consistent decrease in the average net incomes of over seventy percent of the U.S. population. These are middle and lower income families, including their own.
However, 2021 is looking up. With Putin’s “Agent orange” getting kicked out of the White House on January 19, 2021, even the mediocre Biden will be a big improvement. Sadly, the same crooks will be in charge of Congress, so, Americans can expect little, if any, improvement for that over-seventy-percent-of-the-U.S.-population, mentioned in the paragraph above.
With a science-conscious administration taking control, the COVID-19 pandemic should soon stop infecting and killing rational Americans, these are the citizens willing to take the necessary precautions and receive inoculations (when the vaccines become available), as directed by medical experts.
But, Americans can expect the novel coronavirus to remain with us for quite a while. Even with the departure of Putin’s “Agent orange”, the nation must deal with the GOP’s ongoing encouragement to the RWNJs. That encouragement will provide the inspiration to the RWNJs to continue following the directions given them by Putin’s “Agent orange”, to ignore COVID-19 facts, keep believing COVID-19 is a hoax, refuse to knuckle under to Democrats’ COVID-19 regulations and restrictions, reject all attempts by medical experts to coerce them into being inoculated against COVID-19, and, when any of the RWNJs feel the symptoms of COVID-19, they must deny they have contracted the disease (because it does not exist), even with their dying breath.
So, even with their 2021 strategy for complete congressional gridlock, the GOP has one positive plan going into the third decade of the 21st century.
