Liberty's crew was not "sworn to secrecy" if they revealed Israel's deliberate attack; they were threatened with court martial and decades of imprisonment if they told the truth.

Liberty's crew was not part of US war crimes in Vietnam which were the source of anti-war protests at that time. In fact, it's possible Liberty uncovered evidence of IDF war crimes in Egypt.
