Why Does Trump Face Felony Charges? What is a felony 101 -- Mr. Trump faces 34 felony counts.

A felony is a crime of greater seriousness than a misdemeanor, and conviction of a felony carries the possible penalty of a year or more in prison.

Falsifying business records in New York State can be a misdemeanor, but prosecutors can bring the charge as a felony if they believe the records were falsified to conceal another crime.

Manhattan district attorney Alvin L. Bragg had suggested that Mr. Trump concealed three potential crimes, although he has not charged him with any of those.

Prosecutors do not need to prove such crimes were committed — only that there was “the intent to commit or conceal” an additional crime

What is worse, breaking a law or being a genocidal monster like Joe Biden?

Will you Lefties conduct a Nuremburg trial on Joe?

Problem with all of that is Trump wasn't the guy that did that.

Somebody else did it, and they didn't know that Michael Cohen was going to screw the pooch.

He faces felony charges because he is running for president. Period.

The "additional crime"? Orange Man Bad

LOL, the star witness for the prosecution just testified that he coded the payments as business related. And that he did so because of the way Cohen worded the expense.

Epic fail.
Boy, you people are grasping at straws. Take shit out of context and build a straw man out of it? The Jury will not be playing your game. He did not ok-to-pay because of how Cohen worded anything. And the payments came out of Trump's personal account.

Quote: Notably, McConney testifies that he didn’t send the invoice from Cohen to the legal department for review. He acknowledges he typically would do so with invoices.

We are beginning to see the roots of what prosecutors say are false about the documents at issue in this case. Jeffrey McConney told Deborah Tarasoff, who dealt with the details of payroll at the Trump Organization, to chalk the payments to Michael Cohen up as “legal expenses” and say they were being made as part of a “retainer” agreement between Cohen and Trump. Prosecutors say that was a way to disguise the hush-money reimbursement to Cohen. To find Trump guilty, jurors will have to agree that these documents were indeed falsified

Trump used personal checking account to pay Michael Cohen for Stormy Daniels hush money, trial hears

Wee have Trump's legal eagle:

In the trial’s opening statements, defence attorney Todd Blanche claimed that those payments were merely “for legal services rendered.” The invoices were processed, “somebody at Trump Tower” signed off on them, and they were recorded as such in a ledger, he argued.
now sounding like an imbecilic usmb poster:

“What on earth is a crime? What is a crime about what I just described?” Mr Blanche said last month. “The 34 counts … are really just 34 pieces of paper.

What happens is the testimony from both Jeffrey McConney and Deborah Tarasoff, has undercut that imbecilic line or reasoning (most likely demanded by Trump to his lawyers).

That’s a great system and standard. I’m SURE you’d be cool when Republicans turn it against democrats

Stop being so simpleminded.

It's a standard in NY state when lower crimes are committed that can rise to felonies. You have supported all the loons in the GOP Houses over the past few decades who have gone after Democrats and found no crimes, but who have kept hearings ongoing in order to sow discord, create doubts, and to damage reputations
