In April, a jury found Perry guilty of murdering Garrett Foster during a July 2020 protest in Austin, Texas. The jury did not find him guilty of an aggravated assault charge.

Perry was sentenced to 25 years in prison, and Abbott asked the state’s parole board to review the case expeditiously. Perry’s conviction and sentencing have angered conservatives, who say he was acting out of self-defense.

Why is it that a conviction that the right doesn't like is always done out of partisanship and not because the accused is, you know... guilty?

Not for nothing any city in Texas will very likely have Republicans in the jury, and it takes a unanimous decision to declare somebody guilty.

Undoubtedly the argument of self-defense was put forth by the defense and subsequently rejected by the jury.

There's only one side putting politics in the judicial system.

And what the governor of Texas is saying, is that it's OK to kill a Black Lives protester, and that no matter what a jury says he will pardon actual KILLERS as long as the victim is a person he doesn't like.

Funny thing that. I can't find any such video. And I looked.

Not only that but I did see messages from Perry that were presented in court where he clearly states he was going there and he might have to kill some protesters. Furthermore. As I said. The self-defense argument was REJECTED by the jury. UNANIMOUSLY.

As for your claim the victim pointed the weapon at him. This was denied by witnesses. And I'm still very much waiting for ANYONE to provide a video proving otherwise. I've looked and I sure as hell can't find it.

What I could find was Perry literally saying he might kill some protesters on Twitter.
