Trump Comptroller, Jeff McConney, Blows Up Biden's-Alvin Bragg's Case

This thread failed miserably -- just as the Trump defense in the Manhattan courtroom will.
LOL. So far the thread has held up. You just don't like bad news.
The prosecution hasn't been able to prove that Trump knew anything about what they claim was an illegal act.

The prosecution keeps proving that Michael Cohen pulled this stunt on his own.

As far as Trump knows, any payments to his lawyer Michael Cohen was a legal expense, and what's even worse for the prosecution, Trump never paid the checks to Cohen.

He didn't know that Michael Cohen was paying Stormy Daniels.
The Defense proved that Michael Cohen may have been trying to shake down Trump because Trump didn't give him an important position in the White House. He was very upset about this. Seems a lot of people were hoping for jobs in the administration, and didn't get them.

Mitt Romney is pissed that Trump didn't put him in his administration, and this led to a lot of nasty comments on his part. It appears that Michael Cohen is more of the same. It seems that Trump has had a lot of people meet him in his life and they became enemies simply because he didn't give them what they wanted. This often happens to celebrities.

Maggie HabermanReporting from inside the courthouse

On screen is an email from Allen Weisselberg to Jeffrey McConney saying that it was okay to pay the money to Michael Cohen, “per agreement with Don and Eric.” Eric Trump is sitting in the courtroom as this takes place.

Notably, McConney testifies that he didn’t send the invoice from Cohen to the legal department for review. He acknowledges he typically would do so with invoices.

We are beginning to see the roots of what prosecutors say are false about the documents at issue in this case. Jeffrey McConney told Deborah Tarasoff, who dealt with the details of payroll at the Trump Organization, to chalk the payments to Michael Cohen up as “legal expenses” and say they were being made as part of a “retainer” agreement between Cohen and Trump. Prosecutors say that was a way to disguise the hush-money reimbursement to Cohen. To find Trump guilty, jurors will have to agree that these documents were indeed falsified.

Cohen submitted each invoice “pursuant to the retainer agreement.” Pay stubs to Cohen described each check as payments for his “retainer.” Invoices entered into the company’s accounting software list each payment as a “legal expense.”

btw, there was no retainer agreement.

Ledgers from Mr Trump’s personal checking account and the Donald J Trump Revocable Trust – which handled the former president’s assets while he was in office – recorded the payments to Cohen as “legal expense,” according to documents shown in court.

Which proves that Trump didn't call it a legal expense. His accountant or his comptroller did it.

Trump signs things. He pays people to handle his bookkeeping.

This is what the Jury is seeing/hearing: Trump checked up on the bookkeeping:

"I would hand-deliver the [cash position] report to him once a week," McConney explained.

Why Does Trump Face Felony Charges? Prosecutors Say He Was Hiding Other Crimes.

Donald J. Trump faces 34 felony counts in his Manhattan trial, but none involve the other misconduct that prosecutors say he engaged in.

While “hush money” payments are not necessarily illegal, Mr. Trump reimbursed Mr. Cohen during his presidency. In internal records, Mr. Trump’s company classified the repayment to Mr. Cohen as legal expenses, citing a retainer agreement. Prosecutors say there were no such expenses or retainer agreement.

The records related to the reimbursement underpin the 34 counts of falsifying business records: 11 counts involve the checks issued to Mr. Cohen, 11 center on monthly invoices Mr. Cohen submitted to the company, and 12 involve entries in the general ledger for Mr. Trump’s trust.

Reliable meaning CNN or MSNBC? :auiqs.jpg: :290968001256257790-final::113:
Right.

Did Trump have Michael Cohen on retainer or not.
On one hand you say no and on the other you say he was.

Ask yourself why Trump would pay Cohen several checks of the same amount if he wasn't on retainer?
If Cohen was actually doing work for Trump the expenses would vary because of the number of hours he put in would vary.
Never mind the fact that Trump could save money by paying Stormy Daniels off in one lump sum. My understanding is she wanted less than $200K for her silence yet he ended up paying Cohen over $400K. What was the other money for, if Cohen wasn't on retainer.
It appears that Stormy Daniels was shopping her story around as early as 2011, yet she claims she was embarrassed about it. Why would she try to sell what she claimed was an embarrassing story. Why is a porn star ashamed of something that appears to be just consensual sex?

Right.

NPR has 87 Democrats on the payroll and zero Republicans.
NBC is just the network version of MSNBC.

Nuff said

The retainer agreement is a lie. Trump and Weisselberg knew this to be false. "McConney testifies that he didn’t send the invoice from Cohen to the legal department for review. He acknowledges he typically would do so with invoices." - Why? Because he knew something as fishy. He testified as much.

McConney says Weisselberg kept him in the dark

Asked if former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg ever kept him in the dark, Jeffrey McConney answers, "Yes"
"You were told to do something and you did it," prosecutor Matthew Colangelo asks. "Yes," McConney replies.

Colangelo follows up and asks whether McConney was privy to any conversations between Trump and Weisselberg about these payments. He says he was not.

Colangelo asks if somethings went "over your head," and McConney said yes. He agreed he was asked to do things he sometimes didn't know about.

BTW, Jack Smith's case is falling apart.

This image was leaked to the media following the RAID of Mar a Lago, the first time such a dramatic action was taken against a former president. But it turns out those "classified" cover sheets were paper clipped on top of documents by the FBI.But it gets worse. In their haste to paint Trump as a criminal, the Special counsel now concedes that some "top secret" cover sheets do not even match the relevant document! In other words they created a photo op, and it's not even accurate. They lied. They leaked. They smeared. Just like with the Russia Hoax. Just like with the impeachment hoax. Just like with every other case against Trump. What an absolute dumpster fire.Investigate Jack Smith!

Why do I keep hearing that Trump never paid Cohen back?

Because Cohen did it on his own. What he supposedly paid Daniels wasn't authorized by anyone. Cohen did it on his own, and this was testified this way in court last week.

So you think that a bookkeeper must know every single thing that Trump does? Really?

Is this guy his most trusted associate?

NO!!!

Testimony. Evidence. The jury is not Magadonian, but American. They are not under the influence by the leader of a cult-of-personality. The jury is seeing and hearing evidence. They are not at a Trump rally.
