OK, this is from a member on ARFCOM (xanadu) and it's sorta scary.....Yeah, I know we are all being "watched" but it's really easy now.
I discovered that LexisNexis is THE clearing house for the 3 credit services, and they maintain AND SELL a huge database on me, you, and everyone else.
Overview:
LexisNexis is used by professionals in legal, business, insurance, and government sectors for in-depth research, risk assessment, fraud prevention, and data analytics, leveraging vast databases of public records, legal documents, news, and proprietary information to aid in everything from legal case preparation to verifying identities for loans and insurance.
Its services help organizations make informed decisions, manage risk, and improve operational efficiency by providing comprehensive data on individuals and businesses, including insurance claims history (CLUE reports), driving records, and property ownership.
I ordered a free report of all the data that LexisNeis had on me - it was 68 PAGES of every record of everything that I had bought, sold, or borrowed since 1980. Every rental, every mortgage, every credit card, every email address, every insurance policy, every THING in my financial life.
If you wonder where Equifax, Experian, and Transunion are getting their data from - It's LexisNexis.
I don't know how much good it will do you but here's a opt-out link.... https://optout.lexisnexis.com
The whole thread is sort of "scary" as other members chimed-in.....NexisLexis is just the tip of the iceberg for people wanting your info.
Here's the thread....Look at post #4!
Mods if it's not kosher then delete the link. I just figured it was a good PSA type of thing to share.
