Personally, I like how the limited US involvement in Syria has played out, more a training/support role than anything else, with a good outcome, a brutal dictator deposed by Syrian rebels. Combat zone? Depends on how you look at it. I've seen deadlier training cycles in a single summer, several times, right here in the US than the total 10 US soldiers that died in Syria during the whole 10 years we assisted and like here in this country, none from enemy fire. RedState is just upset about the outcome, Russia supporters (as many right-wingers have become), upset Russia and a dictator kicked out of that country, and anoter example like Afghanistan of Russian power outside her borders, failing to acheave and maintain goals in support of friendly authoritarian regimes or quests to dominate, outside their borders.
I wish the Syrians that kicked out their dictator, Assad, and his Russian supporters, good luck, toward normalizing life there.
