The illustrious governor of NY now requires a warning label for addictive social media.

In a prototypical burst of pointless legislation, NY is only targeting young people and only for very specific things like infinite scrolling.

Whereas I know gamers that would disregard the warning label in a heartbeat - I'm sure you've seen them, they start some game with their online friends then they look up and it's three days later, and there's half eaten Chinese food all over the place.

States are getting involved in social media regulation whether red or blue. Congress will need to establish the rules nationally or they will likely be nearly unworkable. We will see.

States with Notable Laws
  • Arkansas: Social Media Safety Act (age verification, parental consent).
  • California: Mental health warning labels for minors.
  • Connecticut: Parental consent for users under 16.
  • Florida: Age verification for users under 14.
  • Louisiana: Age verification for minors.
  • Maryland: "Kids Code" (banning personalized content for under-16s).
  • Ohio: Restrictions on minors' access.
  • Tennessee: New laws taking effect in 2025.
  • Texas: Parental consent for minors under 18.
  • Utah: Age verification, parental consent, 10:30 PM curfew.

I think that the idea is a good one...Young children are gravitating towards Social Media like 'reels' or tic toc many times where parents are not aware what they're looking at. It is taking away their ability to interact with anyone on an interpersonal level, and what we see is a whole new generation of entitlement coming up....

Children under 18 need to be limited as to what kind of time they spend on these sites.

Nah, some RWNJ will just buy it and kick all the liberal types off.

Yes there should be a warning label on USMB that reads:

“WARNING: Reading posts from Trump supporters will hurt your brain.”

;)

Or…..”reading posts from antisemitic and anti-American leftists who prioritize the interests of illegal alien thugs over American law officers will make you ill.”

How sad is your life when you can not help but inject your hatred for all things Trump into any conversation that has **** all to do with the man.

P.S. I have never voted for Trump.

I vote in local, state and the Senate and House elections in my state. I have never voted in a Presidential election because It's always a choice of the lesser evil.
If you don’t vote for the lesser evil, you are giving a better chance for the greater evil to win.
