My guess is that Californias hippy-like attitude contributes to this. It is this historical view of libertarianism thought which was passed down from generation to generation, so prevalent that by osmosis alone it contributes even to this day to Californias creative contributions.

You think about the history of the early conquerers who sought the gold rush. Nothing but man, hard work and ingenuity which could lead to riches. Not unlike a high tech start-up, right? This spirit grew to the silicon valley concept and the art of movie making. The imagination has no bounds.

This will be eliminated if you continue to allow Chinas influence and rigid, hate-filled, Communist attitudes to grow there. Marxism is the enemy of Californian thought and they want to sink what made California so great (when they aren't stealing your inventions). Immensely high taxes and unaccountable/uncontrollable government also undermines Calfornias potential. Protect the sanctity of freedom principles at all costs.

Nip it in the bud. Remain free and maximize expression and the challenging of norms, don't look to suppress those who disagree. It is this very function of the disagreement that leads to creativity.
