By the looks of the Comey testimony today, it looks like the hollow "investigation" witch hunt is sticking out like a sore thumb, and going nowhere.

While I absolutely detest the racist Tigerred59, the issue regarding the GOP's treatment of Obama throughout his administration is, as they say, spot on. The GOP was consistent in two things when it came to Obama and that was, disrespect and blocking as much of what they could of Obama's goals. That being said, both the Democrats and the Republicans have a long standing history (almost since the founding of our nation) of opposing their opponents programs, sometimes very vehemently. Thus, expecting only civility between the opposing parties is a bit much to expect on a continual basis.
But, the ever growing divide between the two parties really stepped up decades ago, in the 60's with the "counter-culture" crowd (hippies, communes and alternate educational topics. Both parties lost track of more centrist ideals and instead, grew more and more to the extremes of their parties platforms.
We need to look back at what really made this nation the not only the world's superpower, but also, what drove millions across the planet to seek this nation out.
1. Resources.
2. Space to grow.
3. The promise of freedom to pursue your dreams.
4. No government or religious persecution.
5. Capitalism.
The US couldn't change what happened during its dark period (slavery, genocide). All nations across this globe had slavery (be they black, white, Asian, aboriginal) at some point. Genocide has also occurred throughout history, even into the 20th century. What the US did do, was recognize what it did, not hide it and grew from its mistakes. To this day, the US remains the leading power in the world and remains a beacon for those who seek a better life and are willing to be processed via legal means to enter for their goal of a better life.
