Certain past actions indicate a fundamental rejection of society's norms; this is not generally something that one "recovers" from. Also, for me personally, I write liars off immediately. I'm courteous to everyone, but I have zero respect for people who lie, even about "small" things.

But contrariwise, some young men do amazingly stupid shit, and as long as there is no actual victim, that can be disregarded.

At the point I'm at in my life, I don't have the opportunity or need to draw such a line.
