I was not surprised but was disappointed that this special ,that was repeated on t.c.m. did not mention his early works As a film student The A.F.I tribute to Francis Ford Coppola . He was hired to to take an older sexy film made in Germany in 1958,Mit dem der Eve ,starring willy Fritz . He shot 3 D nudie cutie color footage and changed the plot about a bell boy training him self as detective.It was retitle The bell boy and the play girls. It's not great taking an already made film and enhancing it.Some aspects of the 3D sequence was out of focus too,but,this was Francis begining as film maker.Bob Fermanek and the 3D film Archives restored this film. Hollywood typical of its sex drugs orgies still today the A.F.I. denying this is hypocritical.

The American Film Institute has a number of purposes including: Preserving Cinematic History, Educating Film Makers, and Celebrating Excellent in the Cinematic Arts.

The institute honors those with have made significant achievements in the cinematic arts. Judging the honorees commitment to moral or cultural values is not within their scope of responsibility. It is the person's achievements not their failures that are being considered.

What we honor is not the life of the person but their greatest artistic accomplishments.
