Urban legend. Phil has said it never happened. :)
But it's still a really good song.
It's all analogy after he was in a dark place with the divorce of his wife.

His wife was rightfully creeped out after hearing the song and seeing the video. I like to think of it is as a general song about justice or revenge against an injustice not in a relationship breaking up. It's how I viewed the song as an adult before I found out why he wrote it .

When I was a kid and saw it in the movie Risky Business I thought it was about getting laid lol
