If Trump sent troops to Los Angeles, what might he do as a wartime president to quell opposition?

“It's more than a little ironic that the argument Trump used in the 2016 election to inoculate himself from George W. Bush's Iraq war debacle — that Bush knowingly lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction — is the same one Trump is using now to justify his own military action. Like Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney 23 years ago, Trump has already moved beyond his original rationale for the bombings to muse about regime change in Tehran.
[…]
Trump has already assumed dictatorial powers in a myriad of ways — disregarding court orders, attacking the legal profession, threatening judicial impeachments, targeting journalists and suing media outlets to name but a few. He has already put armed troops on the streets of Los Angeles, and he has threatened to do the same for other cities that refuse to unquestioningly follow his orders.
[…]
So we are already on the road to full autocracy, only awaiting the final verdicts of the courts and Trump's decision as to whether he will abide by them. But his executive overreach and abuse of power so far are nothing to what he can do as a president at war.”

This of course is the classic tactic of an authoritarian regime – use war to deflect from Trump’s failed, unpopular administration.

Like Bush before him, Trump has lied America into another war in the ME.

If the USA declares war, or there is a terrorist attack on the US soil, Trump would have almost unlimited anti-democratic powers to quell unrest and protests. I hadn't thought about this until another friend reminded me because no American President has ever used them before, but Trump will. No questions.

America isn't going to declare war

I remember the left shedding tears over the killing of Soleimani the head of the Revolutionary Guard a designated terrorist org .. the left lost their treasonous emotional minds claiming Trump committed a war crime and murder .. they also claimed that their Iranian allies would exact a heavy price from the US for the actions Trump took .. the left is made up of effeminate, shrill, emotional cowards, and idiots ..

That’s right! He’s going to declare war and a national emergency when you radical leftwing lunatics start attacking everyone because you can’t control yourselves. He’s going to declare you terrorists and deport you with the Alien and Sedition Act.

He’s then going to cancel elections, like our ally and hero Zelensky did, in a time of war. He’ll activate every state’s National Guard, to hunt down illegals as well as anyone deemed a threat to democracy.

We’re then going to implement Project 2025, and you won’t be able to do anything about it. In fact you’ll be lucky if you aren’t hauled off to a mental institution to be lobotomized.

we still have more rights and freedom of speech than you have in the weak joke of a country called Can'tada ..

Yeah? Well the breaking news is that the US just intercepted Iranian missiles over Qatar. So....

The only difference with Trump's new war is that it's popular even before he declares it!

It's going to help the Dems on 'single' party unity and support!

I'm just a bit edgey about how Russia and China are going to take the joke?
