The government of Ukraine should definitely reverse course and reestablish the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Ant-Corruption Office (SAPO) of Ukraine because America's military assistance to Ukraine depends on it. Today the Trump administration does not provide nearly as much military aid to Ukraine as the Biden administration and I know to the Ukrainian people the prospect of the American government returning to that role of providing outstanding military aid to Ukraine looks bleak looks like there is no chance. But as long as there is no breakdown in the Ukrainian government fighting corruption in its country I think there is hope for a return of America to this valuable role. Contrary to the media perception there is widespread support amongst Republicans in Congress to aid Ukraine militarily in a major way these individuals rightly recognize this war by the Ukrainian people to stop this Russian invasion if it goes well will save America from having to go to war against Russia to meet its NATO obligations when Vladimir Putin continues on his ambitions to rebuild the old Soviet Union and invades Poland; for this and other good reasons the Democrat caucus in Congress supports military aid to Ukraine. On the other hand, there is a large contingent of right-wing Republicans in Congress that want to disengage from the world and only care about domestic matters and won't support further military aid for Ukraine but again the number of overall Ukraine supporters in Congress favors Ukraine. Obviously President Trump came into his second term calling for an end to aid for Ukraine but to a large degree it was because he thought he could negotiate and maneuver an end to the war but it has become clear to all that Vladimir Putin's goal is complete victory in the Ukrainian/Russia war and will not accept anything less. So the broad merits of the issues in this war may change the thinking of President Trump like Putin tactics of hammering a civilian population to break their will to fight (this is a precedent that the American people and the world does not want to see established as acceptable) and this Russian invasion of Ukraine is scaring the hell out Europeans because they do not want to go through what the Ukrainian people are currently going through and they see it as a distinct possibility and if it came to fruition it would make for an ominous world with Europe under a brutal Russian dictator the American people don't want this. So President Trump may tack in a new direction and give Ukraine much need offensive military aid but Ukraine must avoid a breakdown in integrity in its government if it turns out that the Government of Ukraine has returned to its old ways with widespread corruption game over in this area for Ukraine. Because the narrative of right wing anti-Ukrainian Republicans is that Ukraine isn't a good country it is a deeply corrupt country so why spend a lot of U.S. taxpayer money in Ukraine it is completely a waste it makes no sense to try to save a deeply corrupt country; a scandal ensuing where it turns out rampant corruption in Ukraine is going on then President Trump isn't going to stick his neck out and go against this sector of his base, the spigot on offensive military aid packages for Ukraine will remain shut!

What is wrong with the leadership of Ukraine after high tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers have made the incredible sacrifice of giving their life and limb saving Ukraine from the clutches of the brutal tyrant Vladimir Putin and these leaders disrespect and devalue this sacrifice by removing the strong independence of Anit-corruption agencies in their government they're acting like a despicable and disgraceful group of people! Two small points in the lengths of office of the head of these agencies there is always a balance between you want to leave enough time where good people that hold these positions are able to do a lot of good for your citizens and you don't want the length of service to be too long because when it is too long people get complacent and it incentivizes bad people throughout your society to corrupt the officeholder so these bad people can carry on a long reign of corruption! With this balancing in mind it seems prudent to me to change the terms of the Director of NABU from only one seven year term permitted to a term being six years long and two such terms are permitted and for the head of SAPO keep the five year term but allow a reappointment for a total of two terms; giving the head of major organizations like this approximately ten years to get the organization running well and make a difference for good is fair and just makes sense!

Ukraine has been corrupt for decades. Their old Russian orbit roots.

Canada is very corrupt too and a gross violator of Canadian rights and abusing U.S corporations on our soil.

America has to hold all to account. Time will tell if Ukraine can change their ways. The desperation of war and leaders and the elite even more desperate to remain safe, it is always the poor who pay the price.

No they won't unless Mr. Putin takes the whole territory. Ukraine is an artificial country jut like Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia were. They broke to pieces..
It has been Russian territory throughout the ages. Even before the west supported 1917 communist coup.
