President Donald Trump is set to sign three congressional resolutions on Thursday to block California's electric vehicle sales mandates and diesel engine rules.

The resolution will bar the Golden State's plan, which has also been adopted by 11 other states, to end the sale of gasoline-only vehicles by 2035. It will also repeal the mandate that at least 80% of vehicles in California be electric by the same deadline.

Several auto industry leaders are set to attend the bill signing at the White House, officials said.

Doesn't California have this right under the Tenth Amendment?

Congress and the executive already bully States with CAFE standards, drinking ages, and other vehicle related issues which have all passed judicial scrutiny. This cow has left the barn a long time ago.

What happened to states rights?????????????????????????

...and just like that gone with an instant.

You never supported states rights. Now you have changed your mind?

I caught the signing on TV (yep, the near daily live White House press conferences are covered live daily on (common broadcast) TV if you know where to look, just don't expect CBS, ABC or NBC to air them), and Trump was explicit that his signing of these bills cannot be blocked by a judge like some of his EOs, he was pretty adamant about it, so I presume he knows that Gavin is up sheet creek without an environmentally-friendly oak paddle and will be chewing on neutronium.

But......but.................but....................................the Left wants it, so its Ok

It's like illegal immigration in Arizona. When Arizona tried to enforce federal laws on immigration, Obama sued them and stopped them. But once Trump wanted to enforce immigration law, the states claimed they were sanctuary cities where he could not enforce the federal laws on immigration

See, the Left gets to have their cake and eat it too, pretty much every time.

Except now they are not anymore. They are like Lee expecting McClellan during the Wilderness Campaign but instead they are getting Grant.

We are slowing getting rid of the GOP fecklessness we've come to expect.

Irrelevant. Even without this resolution, California is not even remotely on track to ban the sale of all gas cars by 2035. We won't have enough charging stations. We won't have enough batteries. Hell, we won't have enough electricity!

In 2030, it'll get pushed out to 2040, and then in 2035, to 2045 and so on. It'll just be another constantly receding target. Not unlike the "high" speed bull(sh)et train that will eventually zip people between the metropolises of Merced and Bakersfield by 2180.

Trump should have passed on this and let California step on this particular rake all by themselves.

Well, it'll help the auto industry. ITMT, applied technology happens along at a much slower rate than people realize--- just look at when a lot of our top technologies and weapons were really developed. A realistic timetable for an all electric transportation industry is probably closer to the end of this century.
