Why is Netanyahu in Mar-a-Lago? Shouldn't Trump meet world leaders in the White House? Is there something special about Netanyahu?

I'll give Netty credit, he knows his audience, and by giving him his "prize" he further cements his allegiance.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday that President Donald Trump will receive the Israel Prize in 2026, marking the first time the award will be bestowed to a foreign leader.

Trump was informed he had won the prize during a meeting with Netanyahu at his Mar-a–Lago estate as the pair discussed plans to push the ceasefire in Gaza into its second phase, a process that has stalled in recent months.

“For the first time in the history of the State of Israel: The Israel Prize will be awarded to President Trump!,” wrote Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kisch in a post on X. “This is a historic decision that expresses recognition of President Trump’s extraordinary contribution and lasting impact on the Jewish people in Israel and around the world.”

On a call with Kisch during the meeting, Trump said the award was a “great honor,” adding that to be the “first one outside of Israel is really something.”

While the prize has infrequently been awarded to non-Israeli citizens in its history, including to Indian conductor Zubin Mehtain 1991, Monday’s announcement marked the first time that a foreign leader has received the accolade.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the guidelines for the prize mandate that candidates must be Israeli citizens, with the exception of “candidates for the Israel Prize for Diaspora Jewry and/or for a special contribution to the Jewish people.” Mehta, for example, was music director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

I don't understand the side trip to Mar-a-Lago. One can only wonder what was being plotted in secrecy.

Another consolation prize.

Trump has done much for the U.S/Israel relationship. He has brought together Jews and Christians as has rarely been done.

He earned an award by helping to ensure a state in the region didn't get a nuke. It cost him a great deal of political capital but he decided it was necessary for world peace (the fewer nukes the better, especially those who are close friends with China and Russia).

He decreased the status of weed which Dems promised for years but didnt go through with. He has cut the cost of energy, he is keeping his promises on illegals, he is calling our adversary and ally alike for their violations of civil liberties and human rights, he is defending allies such as Israel or Christians being abused in Africa, he is weakening Chinas influence in Venezuela, Africa and with Israels help Im sure, Iran.

He just needs to focus on domestic issues for the most part while call out Judeo-Christian values that are being trampled on in Europe and elsewhere. There are MANY citizens in Canada and Europe who are the victims of dishonest, government overreach. JD Vance in particular has been loud about it and Trump is as well (with Rubio also confronting these "allied" violators)

I think his national guard move (except for in D.C) was a political mistake. I think the Iranian issue could have been handled better, his focus on issues that are not kitchen table issues has hurt him but he has time before the midterms are upon you.

If he can recover by weakening China (if China somehow collapsed and communism replaced, he would be an overnight legend) while strengthening Taiwan, getting checks out to citizens in the form of a tariff refund etc. He can recover from some missteps.

He should be calling up those companies who promised manufacturing investment in America and demand they get shovels in the ground and Americans hired, trained and working.

The only thing Trump did for Israel was enable the worst impulses of a criminal, unfit leader that Israel is desperately trying to get rid of.

I often wonder why the U.S. government is so beholden to Israel, and it really is all about sharing intelligence. No one does it better than Israel, and no one has a better reason to develop covert intelligence like Israel does. Gaza has laid bare the reasons why, and they failed miserably on October 7th. They aint perfect, but they are the best.

We supply the weapons, they supply the intel.

That Saudi's and the Israeli's, opposite sides, same coin.

Odd they missed the October 7 attack then isn't it? Or did they?
