Berman is a temp appointee from back in 2018. It was a 120 day appointment. The NY judges of the district appointed him until a nominee from the President comes or if the President fires him.

The fact that he has investigated and prosecuted crimes that are closely connected to Trump sure looks like the reason he was fired. No other reason has been given.
