Trump Backs Police Officers - Won't Allow Changes to Qualified Immunity

Sovereign citizens they be and they will make people pay for their insolence, great going you authoritarians that enjoy the security of the police state..

Tell me how getting rid of it would hurt Chauvin and the other 3 any worse than they already are? It does not prevent their prosecution.-

On May 30, 2020, U.S. Representative Justin Amash (L-Michigan) proposed the Ending Qualified Immunity Act, stating: "The brutal killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police is merely the latest in a long line of incidents of egregious police misconduct...police are legally, politically, and culturally insulated from consequences for violating the rights of the people whom they have sworn to serve".[57][58][59]

Without it there would be no police officers.
Then how did we have police before it then?
In those days if the police didn't like your smirk you would be dragged into an alley and your head bashed in. He fell down the stairs. No one would dare make a complaint against a cop.
Cops today are no different.
You really have no idea.
What exactly are you trying to say?

You said we can't have cops without qualified immunity, even though we did, and now you don't want to explain what you mean....... WTF, over?

Cops have always abused their power and if we couldn't get redress legally for their bad behavior, then we always just killed them for it. Making it damn near impossible to get that redress legally does no one any good.

Are you saying they'll just keep doing it, anyway? Because yes, some will....... and then we can jail their asses for it, which is actually really difficult right now.

You are clueless. My friend was riding with her husband when he was pulled over at dusk for a blown license plate light. The police saw a gun in the back that was not registered to him, so they arrested him & told her to start walking 8 miles home because they were impounding the car. She said no it's their car & she could drive it home. They said no & when she opened the door to get out to walk away, the cop claimed the door hit him, so they tasered, beat, cuffed & jailed her, she died months later from the injuries, because of the one comment. This was a year before the Ferguson Riots, as they were 45 year old white couple driving through Ferguson, MO

Stupid, not only is he on the complete wrong side of this he is also on the unpopular one during an election. Not a good idea.

There is zero reason whatsoever for police to have qualified immunity, police unions and such immunity are the first and blatantly obvious things that need to be dumped. Would be a really good time to trash civil asset forfeiture as well.

This will be enacted at the state level and then the federal level next year.

But liberals don't like the old days when law and order politicians rightly supported the police.

That's why the police were given qualified immunity. To make up for the lack of support.
