Trump backs off his threat to fire Jerome Powell , fed chair.
Another retreat on one of many threats of being a tough guy. He is backing off tariffs, he is calling the head of China, Xi, a good guy.
The world looks at Trump as a joke, a bad joke. He is changing his mind every day on what he is going to do.

‘Mark Spindel, an investment manager who co-wrote a history of Fed independence, added Trump “got the hint.”

“Firing Jay would be a catastrophic own goal,” Spindel told The Wall Street Journal.

David Wilcox, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, stressed the importance of keeping the Fed’s independence.

“This is an existentially threatening moment for the institution,” Wilcox told The New York Times. “We may be on the cusp of throwing away an asset that has taken decades to accumulate.”’

Unfortunately, Powell's term ends May 2026 – Trump will no doubt appoint an incompetent toady and sycophant who will do as Trump orders, not what’s best for the economy and country.

I heard "ChiComJoe" but this one "takes the cake"

Powell's attack dog, Goolsbee of the Chicago fed told Trump to back off. In mean no uncertain terms.

Because Trump doesn't think properly about what he's doing. He gets an idea, thinks "this will be great" and goes and does it. Then it all ***** up and he has to keep backtracking.

It's a ridiculous way of trying to run a country.

Trump is waiting to see what happens when the Fed meets next weekend.

There are ways to get rid of Powell.

But really the Fed needs to be dissolved. Trump should make himself Fed Chair after Powell's term ends next year.

Trump cannot get rid of Powell.

Trump cannot be Fed Chair.

You need to read up, Muhammed.

Trump’s war against the Powell Fed has taken another political turn

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell mostly breezed through two hearings on Capitol Hill this week but now heads into a much bigger challenge: a potential threat that President Donald Trump could undermine his authority by soon naming his pick to head the central bank next year.

As Powell testified Wednesday before the Senate Banking Committee, holding generally cordial exchanges with lawmakers, Trump was at the NATO summit in The Hague lobbing his latest attacks on a man he had nominated for the Fed job nearly eight years ago.

“I think he’s terrible,” Trump said when asked during a news conference about his intentions for the next Fed leader. Trump then called Powell a “very average mentally person,” adding he has “a low IQ for what he does” and is “a very political guy.”

“I think he is a very stupid person, actually,” Trump said.

While Trump’s name-calling of Powell isn’t particularly new, the words now could signal action.

I assure you the markets, both domestic and international, will freak out if Dotard names a lackey who will do what Don commands to be the next Chairman of the Fed.

Trump says 'not planning' fire Fed Chair Powell after reports suggest Powell ouster coming 'soon'

President Trump on Wednesday tempered reports from earlier in the day that suggested he planned to fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell imminently, the latest twist in the ongoing saga regarding Trump's displeasure with the central bank head.
