that was a really cool movie for the time

Tron was a spectacle. And it was awesome when it was new.
However, it is not really a rewatchable movie. Being honest - it had no real plot, and no storyline that meant anything. Both were sacrificed to make way for the special effects.
It worked. And it was so cool - for the time. But with modern special effects - it looks hokey.

not wrong, it's dated now if you were to watch it
I mean it was out in the atari era, like watching a video game and I think atari actually had a tron game too

The game very simple, you had to race around the screen without hitting lines your opponent created. It was a totally copied from the game Surround made by Atari in 1977 - 5 years before the movie.

was not aware, I was a wee bit young but many games are a copy/reboot or something else, they just change it enough to not get any copyright

Did they cast Jared Leto in the sequel to make sure that nobody will want to see it?

Disney has reportedly already decided what the future of the Tron franchise looks like after Tron: Ares debuted in theaters only one week ago. The third installment, Tron: Ares, grossed only $60 million globally against a $180 million budget, resulting in a major financial loss. Disney has no plans to bring another Tron movie to the big screen with many fans blaming its failure on leading star Jared Leto.
