Not anymore. the pitch clock has ended that.

I like the concept, but I think they need to add 2-3 more seconds to the clock. game feels just a slight bit too rushed.

it is harder to hit a baseball than to hit a cricket ball.....what i just read said that if a cricket player only hit the ball 30% of the time they would not be considered a very good cricket player...their rate is around 60%......differences in the the speed the balls are thrown and the shape of the bats kind of tells the story....

I actually like the cat & mouse games played by batter vs pitcher.

And the idea that games are too slow is nonsense. Baseball is designed to be a deliberate game. It matches the lazy, dog days of summer.

If you want to know why baseball got longer, then look at 4 things:


1. Relief pitching. It takes a lot of time to bring in pitchers to warm up. That's not bad; it's how the game evolved.
2. Ads. More advertising than in the past.
3. Instant reply. Going to the booth in "New York" is nonsense.
4. Designated hitter. A total abomination. There was a time when the pitcher would come up to the plate and bunt on the first or second pitch. Or, if there were no runners, then the pitchers would take his three strikes and sit down. A designated at bat is much longer.


So, owners and their peripheral fans tried to make the game different and got what they deserved.
