The RUSH thread

Good band but I could do without the screechy voice of Geddy Lee.
It's what made them great. Like Journey. But I agree with you if a Genie granted me 3 wishes and I wished I had a great voice and they gave me a voice like theirs, I'd be pissed.

LOL.

It works for Tom Sawyer as his cadence is more relaxed but not for most of their other songs.

For me once you've heard one or two of their songs you've heard them all. To each their own, they say much the same about AC/DC but they write loud anthems so there's that.

I saw Rush many times, just like Aerosmith.

We have a planetarium dome near us where you can go and they show you the galaxies, universe. Once in awhile they do a laser show with popular artists. Rush is probably the best. Blow your freakin mind.

The Acheson Planetarium at Cranbrook Institute of Science is an intimate theater that allows you to immersively explore and experience the universe in rich color and detail.

Now add Rush and a laser light show.

There is one in OKC where I grew up, and we went often.

Back in the day, I would have listed RUSH in my top 10 favorite bands for sure.
I also think sometimes... wonder how much bigger they would have got if they had a singer?

Anything before 1984 or so. After that, it was all synth and tech. Sounded the same.
But you gotta give props to Neal Peart (who primarily wrote most of their songs).
Didn't get the attention that Geddy Lee and Alex got but was the heart and soul of the band.

How about their best instrumental...Geddy hammers the Bass on this song.

I can't even imagine Rush without Geddy Lee's voice, much like I couldn't imagine Genesis without the raspy voice of Phil Collins.

That was his choice. Peart hated the limelight. Hated it.
Inarguably one of the best rock drummers of all time. He didn't write most of the songs - what he did was write virtually all of the lyrics. The other two wrote the music to his lyrics.

Rush fans unite here. There will never be another band like them.

I'm listening to some Rush on this Sunday morning. So many good songs but I shall post this one to start:

Reading the headline I thought you meant Rush Limbaugh

He was one in a million

All that's missing is the burning sulfur. :dev3:
