Except that Passover was not changed to Easter. According to the New Testament tradition, the "Last Supper" Jesus had with his Disciples was the Passover meal followed by the long night in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, the betrayal, the arrest, the trial, the crucifixion. On the third day Jesus rose from the grave, or more accurately the Tomb Joseph of Arimathea had donated for him. It is based on that last event that Christians established the tradition of Easter.

Orthodox Jews continue to observe Passover just as Jesus did that fateful week recorded in the Bible. Traditional Christian refer to recognition of the "Last Supper" as "Maundy Thursday" and depending on what Christian denomination is involved, assigning various degrees of "Holy Day" to that designation.

Jews celebrate freedom from Egyptian slavery.
Christians commemorate the death and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
Two entirely different events that take place at nearly the same time each year.

It's many , many times for every soul and you get no say in the matter .
Still , if you feel comfortable in this life I just hope you will be ready for the extra work load next time as you try to move up a life step.

Pride will have to go , for starters .

My 'say' in matters was usually wrong. God has the right answers.

Don't confuse self-respect for pride. ;)

And yet, the two events are somewhat symbolically similar..........

Jews celebrate freedom from Egyptian slavery.

Those without Christ are slaves to sin

Those with Christ (Christians) celebrate freedom from sin because of the death and resurrection

That's where you go totally wrong .
No such personalised entity .

Think more of Universe being Consciousness, and by Universe definition you are as much a part of "God as "It" is part of you .

Nearest you can easily get to better understanding is to look at the Buddhist teachings and Nirvana .
Anyhow , very soon we will be able to ask the Aliens direct and it will be most instructive to see whether they have advanced as far in these areas as they have technologically .
 
When I was in college I took a philosophy of religion course. The instructor began the course by going over three attributes of God, namely, God is all powerful, God is all knowing, and God is an all loving being. He then asked the class, "if God is all powerful, all knowing, and an all loving being then why didn't God simply create us all to be perfect like himself?" He reasoned that if God is all powerful, certainly he would have the power to create us all perfect. And if God is all knowing then certainly he would know how to make us perfect. And finally, if God is an all loving being, certainly he would forego having us experience all the pain, suffering, and death of this world and simply make us perfect just like himself.

I think if you can explain why God did not make us as perfect as himself, you will have to cover the passion and why it was all necessary.
