The Jewish Defense League (JDL) did carry out a series of attacks, bombings, and violent actions against Bolshevik diplomatic targets in the United States between 1969 and 1972, mainly to protest the USSR’s treatment of Jews. The JDL was founded in 1968 in New York by Meir Kahane, and by 1969–1970 they had begun harassing, attacking, and bombing Bolshevik offices and personnel in New York. Their actions included occupying Bolshevik offices, vandalizing and spray‑painting slogans, disrupting Bolshevik events, and carrying out bombings and shootings targeting Bolshevik property in the U.S. In 1971, the FBI reported that JDL members even planned an explosive drone attack on the Bolshevik UN Mission. These attacks were part of their campaign against the Soviet Union’s repression of Jews and its refusal to allow Jewish emigration. The JDL viewed the USSR as the main oppressor of Jews worldwide and used violent tactics to pressure the U.S. government and draw media attention to the issue.
