The white washing has been going on since i was a kid it was just the fanatical SS who carried out war crimes and atrocities, no doubt there were individuals in the Wehrmacht who were not all bad but as a collective they were no different don't forget they took part in the liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto, this camp in Belarus if you can call it a camp was just an open field with barbed wire and mine fields, it was run by the Wehrmacht and thousands died there many Children. no one was ever really punished and several officers served in NATO after the war.
