The latest greatest antics of our elected representatives is the so-called Save Act. And I say this because, I already have to show an I.D. whenever I vote at the polls. The demands the GOP sponsors are usually, I'd say always about restricting the voter turnout. In June of 2021, the Senate Republicans Blocked the Democrats' Sweeping Voting Rights Legislation. What were their reasons? That should bother people, because the hyopcisy of their reason(s) for backing the Save Act today. The why:

"Look, what this is really about is an effort for the federal government to take over the way we conduct elections in this country," he told reporters Tuesday afternoon, pushing back on the claims that GOP-led states are enacting new laws that suppress access to the ballot. "It is a solution in search of a problem."

Americans' confidence that their elections will be run fairly has dropped to its lowest point in years, according to a new PBS News/NPR/Marist poll. Politics Mar 11, 2026

In NY I don't have to show anything, just sign by my name.

Pass the Save act and take that poll again.

When you're polling so disastrously for the midterms that your only hope is to implement Russia/North Korea style controls into the voting system

When I lived in NYC I had to show I.D at the polls.

and as usual, you are completely confused and running off into nutty-land:

Voter ID
Registered voters do not need to show ID to vote, unless they did not provide identification with their registration.

First time voters must provide identification either on or with their voter registration application. If you have not provided ID by Election Day, you are still allowed to vote by affidavit ballot, but not using the poll site scanner.

Acceptable ID includes entering one of the following on your Voter Registration Application:

  • Driver's license number
  • Non-driver's ID number
  • Last four digits of your social security number

If you do not provide your driver's license number or the last four digits of your social security number on your registration form, you can include a copy of any of the following documentation with your registration application:

  • Current and Valid Photo ID
  • Current Utility Bill
  • Bank Statement
  • Government Check or Paycheck
  • Government Document that shows Name and Address

Not exactly how you present and frame your accusation of...

New York does not require voters to present identification while voting. However, if a voter does not provide valid identification at the time of registration, he or she must show identification at the polling place when voting for the first time

So, by them saying "if you did not provide ID when registering IMPLIES you can even register without ID.

Nice self hit there, dainty.

Why don't you need to provide ID when registering, idiot?

Pass the Save act and take that poll again.

Legislation by polling or plebiscite? Hitler came to power with that populist bs.

It's why DANTE HAS ALWAYS SUPPORTED REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY and not POPULAR DEMOCRACY

Either way, one must provide I.D. in order to vote. The exception is voting by affidavit ballot, which has other requirements to PROVE who one is.

Then why are you idiots fighting against the SAVE act so hard?

WE CANT BE DOING THIS BECAUSE WE TECHNICALLY ARE ALREADY DOING SOMETHING YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO MAKE US DO.

If you don't know the arguments about people who move, people who have aged and lost or can't afford documents (but have voted previously and neighbors know them) then you're just an angry, old, troll in the universe

The question would be why does the GOP push this so hard? Because they know it will lower turnout, which will favor them. Less voters the better for the GOP

now enough

move on with your nonsense shit

quotes: "Republicans across the country are deliberately targeting all the ways that younger, poorer, nonwhite and typically Democratic voters access the ballot," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said in a floor speech Tuesday morning.

"All we want to do here is debate [the legislation]," he said. "That's what we're asking for here — just to debate these things, and [Republicans] won't even do that because they're so afraid of what that debate will show."

After the procedural blockade, Schumer said the vote "was the starting gun, not the finish line" on voting rights.

WHY DID THE GOP FIGHT THIS SO HARD?

: Ahead of the vote, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., had vowed to "put an end" to the legislation.

"Look, what this is really about is an effort for the federal government to take over the way we conduct elections in this country," he told reporters Tuesday afternoon, pushing back on the claims that GOP-led states are enacting new laws that suppress access to the ballot. "It is a solution in search of a problem."

The proposed bill would expand voter registration options, along with vote-by-mail and early voting options, and includes provisions related to election security. It aims to tackle campaign finance concerns by requiring additional disclosures of fundraising and expanding the prohibition on campaign spending by foreign nationals.

It also would require states to establish independent redistricting commissions to handle congressional redistricting and impose new ethics rules for public officials.

9 Things to Know About the Proposed SAVE America Act

The law would preempt state voter registration processes and impose strict voter ID requirements.

I'm still chuckling at them sneaking that modification of House rules into it to modify the House rule that requires them to introduce those thousand page spending bills with at least a 24 hour notice.

They want to modify the existing House rule to do away with that 24hr spending bill notice by tucking it into the Save Act.

Now why would they want to do that? Who benefits from that? :26:

Nobody, particularly ou so-called conservative friends, seem to want to talk about that. Why, Santy Clause? Why?

Who all among our so-called conservative usership supports that specific House rule modification they snuck into it, btw?

Anyone?

And you keep trying to pretend that our voting system integrity isn't an issue.

If by "lower turnout" you mean make cheaters get second thoughts about cheating, then wow, lets lower some turnout.

Every single fraudulent vote nullifies the vote of a legal voter.
