The I-80 in California has been turned into a 6 mile long snow covered parking lot near Emigrant Gap.

And this man wants to be POTUS!

Don't worry!

Gavin Newsom is on it.

Yeah, that's roughly fifteen miles from me. In all fairness it's not that idiots fault. We just got 8 feet of snow dumped on us up here. It's hard to clear that much snow, that fast.

It's pretty dangerous though, some of my younger friends with jeeps are delivering fuel etc so the folks don't freeze to death.

We just had an avalanche that killed 8 people, the worst in modern history. Truly a horrible event.

Snow and mountains is white people stuff and not criminals snd invaders,! Low priority

Not defending this dope Newsom but those people aside from the truck drivers who need to make the delivery are morons to be out there during this storm.

Was that much snow predicted? I know that in the CA mountain passes you can get dumped on in a hot hurry.

It was the upper end of the estimate. Mt. Rose got 9 feet, I got 8 to 9 depending on which part of my property you're on, Squaw got over 8 feet. It's pretty typical to be honest.

The main difference between our Sierra cement, and your east coast snow is the density of the snow. Ours is very heavy because the water content is very high.

So, great for skiing, not so great when you're trying to drive through it.

According to my "dog dish rain gauge" we got two inches of rain since 3pm yesterday. Still raining. Glad the temps stayed up in the high 30s so it wasn't snow. Supposed to be in the low 60s this afternoon.

At least the rain served to finally melt away the remaining snow/ice and the Shenandoah River is in full flow now. :)

I don't know WTF I'd do with 8' of snow at one time. The deepest I can remember was 5' in a early March storm. Then it got up into the 70s and was gone in a day!

We will get 4 feet of snow in a single day when we have an atmospheric river impact the tahoe basin. That happens fairly regularly. Figure once every 6 or 7 years on average.
