The Diplomat is a miniseries available from Netflix. It is about an American state department intelligence specialist who is tapped to be the Ambassador to the UK. Keri Russel plays the main character.

It is an excellent series - good acting, tremendous settings, great dialog - that I watched faithfully to its end.

But that's the rub. It ends with a tremendous cliff-hanger, and Netflix has not committed even to a Season 2. It must have cost a fortune to produce, with international sets, a lot of technology and resources.

If any of you have any influence, try to get Netflix to do Season 2.

Did they release all 8 episodes at once?

Keri Russel is a great actress. Loved her in The Americans.

Watched the first three episodes and found it worth watching. If you watched The Americans, then you may be familiar with Keri Russell. The Americans is an espionage series with Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as Soviet sleeper agents posing as an average married couple in the Washington suburbs in the early 1980s. I believe The Americans will prove to be a much better series than The Diplomat. However, The Diplomat does look pretty good and I hope to finish it tonight. The Americans is available on Hulu with a subscription and elsewhere to rent.

Don't worry about a cliffhanger. Netflix has officially announced a 2nd season. However, as is common with Netflix they wait until after each season is release before committing to another season, so don't expect it till sometime next year.

I just finished it up last evening.....It was very good.

Maybe The Halfrican (or his man) didn't like it. ;)

I kind of assumed this was going to be WOKE BS, dunno why, something about the trailer.

But if you're wacky ass digs it I guess I should give it a whirl.

P.S. Hated "The Americans".

So much potential, so much squandered.

It's more similar to the West Wing but instead of the President and staff saving the world, here it's the Keri Russell, the Ambassador, her husband, and staff.

I've seen most of the episodes and liked it. I nearly gave up during the 1st episode but it got better.

Maybe The Americans was simply not your kind of show. It got lots of good marks from the critics and and 18 Emmy nominations. The Diplomat is nothing like The Americans.
