Graham Platner is a running as a Democrat for the U.S. Senate in Maine against Republican incumbent Susan Collins. He's recently been dogged with revelations of incredibly offensive Reddit posts he's made over the years, some more recent. His comments include calling rural people dumb and racist, anti-police rhetoric, and blaming rape victims and military veterans suffering from PTSD as putting themselves in those situations in the first place. He's also proclaimed himself a Communist and drug user.

One would expect he'd have been immediately disavowed by the Democratic Party, but instead, they've mainly gone on an apology tour for him because he made a four minute video claiming he's changed and those views no longer represent him. We know, of course, were he a Republican the knives would be out and no amount of contrition would ever be acceptable. Now, to make matters worse, it's been discovered he has a tattoo on his chest widely associated with NAZI sympathizers. Congressman Ro Khanna is still defending him and is blaming the Democratic Party on this opposition research dump to clear the path for Maine Governor Janet Mills instead.

I'm pretty sure he was a 88er at one time.

Shit....this doesn't even register as a problem in MAGA world.

Apparently, he has said he will have the Nazi tattoo removed. So there's that.... :disbelief:

They’ve found Maryland Dads ideal running mate for 2028!

Either the flamethrowers are held accountable and marginalized by the parties, or we just keep going down this road.

Party affiliation irrelevant. We're about out of time.

Yes, Democrats love Nazis, and Nazis love them back.

This isn't news.

Well, you are wrong about that.

We are not running out of time.

We are out of time, full stop. The United States cannot be fixed.

That's been my opinion for some time now.

Yup, and he's got a big old Nazi SS tattoo on his chest. Cool, huh?

You made is sound like he had a swastika on his chest. This is what it is:

Platner has said that he got the ink in 2007 during a drunken night out in Croatia with a few fellow machine gunners, and that he picked the image at random from options displayed on the wall of the tattoo parlor. Why did he choose it? “Skull and crossbones motifs are popular amongst military units,” Platner told Vanity Fair over the phone this morning. “They’re still popular today amongst military units around the world. I have seen a similar skull and crossbones on French Foreign Legion guys that I served next to in Afghanistan. I’ve seen a very similar one on unit T-shirts from other American military units. I’ve always viewed it as a skull and crossbones tied to combat units.”

In conversation, Platner swore that he didn’t know the tattoo’s connotations until very recently; when asked whether he would have removed it if he’d been aware previously, he said that he had already covered it up.
