I honestly think they were hoping the trumped up felony charge would sink Trump, so that Biden could win in Novemeber and then hand it over to Kamala soon afterwards. That way, Kamala could become the most Left win President in US history without anyone voting for her.

However, the felony charge helped Trump's poll numbers, so he was forced to debate Trump which he could not do. So now they will have to cheat to win in November. No biggie.

And yes, they had the debate early so they could maneuver to get rid of him.

I'm cynical, but not quite as far as you. I think they forced Joe into this unprecedented early debate and told him to show the country he could do it. I think that is why he agreed to it, his ego got ahead of him, and as most of us expected, he failed miserably.
