The American Chestnut tree was one of the most dominant trees in the Eastern US. It was considered the best tasting of chestnuts in the world. It was an important food source for Indians and American settlers and a major source of income for settlers.

Then in the early 1900’s a blight was brought in from Asia and killed every tree in America, devastating the lives of millions.
