In the spring of 1269, a kurultai took place in the valley of the Talas River. Mengu-Timur, Borak and Khaidu, the rulers of the Dzhuchiev, Chagatai and Ugedeyev ulus, respectively, recognize each other as sovereign sovereigns and conclude an alliance against the great Khan Kubilai in case he tries to challenge their sovereignty.
