A state judge has denied a request by prosecutors to keep in jail the two men and three women who were arrested during a raid at a New Mexico compound as they await trial on child abuse charges.

The decision came Monday evening after a lengthy hearing in Taos during which prosecutors said the five defendants were preparing for a dangerous anti-government mission.

They presented evidence of the firearms training done by Siraj Ibn Wahhaj (see-DAHJ' wah-HAJ') and described a compound fortified by old tires and wooden pallets.

Judge Sarah Backus said although she was concerned by "troubling facts," prosecutors failed to articulate any specific threats to the community.

She set a $20,000 bond for each and ordered that they wear ankle monitors and have weekly contact with their attorneys.

The judge, Sarah Backus, was appointed by a Repub governor.

Heard about the case in New Mexico, where, according to prosecutors, 5 Muslim terrorists were holding 11 kids, aged 1-15, and training the older kids to commit school shootings ? There are also multiple allegations of child abuse, and the entire compound was described as deplorable conditions.

The kids were reportably found without food and water at the place, and were said to be "starving". One small boy was found dead and buried, and is believed to be the son of Siraj Wahhaj, who kidnapped him from Georgia last year to reportedly perform an exorcism on him. Wahhaj, in turn, is the son of Siraj Wahhaj Sr, a Muslim imam in Brooklyn, NY, who was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center terrorist bombing which killed 6 people and injured over a thousand others.

What does someone have to do to be considered a "threat to the community" ? Could this be another case of liberal fear of being called a racist or Islamaphobe ? There also is a question about why the County's Sheriff Dept, after surveilling the compound for 2 months, waited so long to move in.

New Mexico's violent criminal catch and release program......... Unfortunately it's the way NM law is set up, despite some evidence the prosecution was unable to provide complete, compelling evidence to prove the defendants were a danger to the public. Like I said, it's the way the law here is set up.

Regardless of who appoints a judge they must follow the law as it is written. Many times judges hands are tied by the law! What makes people think these people opperate in a vacuum. Judges do not have unlimited power nor does the pres. why all of a sudden people act like they have unlimited power. It does not work that way.
