I have applied to retire from my teaching job. The forms and documents they need is INSANE--for a pension I have earned. We even have to go to a notary, hubby and I! At the same time, our daughter is getting married in August. She says she has to fill out so much paperwork to change her name, Amazon sells a kit to help you....for $80!

I hate that the state and federal govts put this burden on taxpaying Americans, while illegals are allowed to drive, work, and live with ZERO documents. DOGE did not go far enough IMHO.

Sometimes I'd love to tell the government to fck off

My dad worked for a factory and my mom had to sign the pension stuff before he retired because there were two ways to take it---more with no spousal benefit after the worker died or less with a lifetime benefit for the spouse after the worker died.

As for name changes, they aren't really complicated. She can probably get the forms for free from the courthouse. They are rubberstamped affairs, but in my state she wouldn't need a name change order. She would just need her marriage certificate. The forms are more for going the other way after the marriage is ended.

Same with my state and DuPont pensions and the wife's .gov pension. No notary required though.

All three were pretty easy.

LOL.....The wife did not tell anyone (they were all working from home) and on her last day she just boxed everything up and dropped it off in front of the door. The guard inside just inventoried the equipment, handed her a receipt, and that was it.

I had to show up for a half day at my state and DuPont jobs. Exit exams and such.
