Wild weather, nuke threats, upheaval, corruption, division, race wars....etc etc etc.
Not only is Mama Earth pissed off at us, so is the universe.
One way to think about is this: we're part of a very very complex system. Lots and lots of things going on at once, all interacting with each other, influencing each other. We can perceive just some of these things, via their effects. Many of them act as if they are random, although this may just mean we don't have enough information to see their causes.
Some of the things in this system are, from the human point of view, bad. Others are good. Others are neutral. And you can get bad effects from things that are initially good.
For example, progress in biology has given us longer life spans, wiped out diseases like smallpox, etc. But also allows us to produce deadly weaponized microbes, like anthrax.
Air travel has meant we can leave our little molehills and see the world. But it also allows plagues (man-made or God-made) to spread easily around the planet.
No fire without ash.
From time to time, enough of these bad things, or combinations of good things that can produce bad effects, 'come together' to produce
really bad effects. Roll a pair of dice often enough, and at some point, you'll get 8 "snake eyes" (two ones) in a row.
Maybe that's what's happening now.
