PORTLAND — Members of the city's Sudanese community said Tuesday that they are "living in fear," and they want state officials to do something about it.

In what was described as an open letter addressed to Gov. John Baldacci and Attorney General Janet Mills, the Sudanese Community Association said it is concerned about Sudanese people's "basic safety."

Probably motivated by the genocide occurring in Darfur.

Or perhaps it was done by the Sudanese gov't to protect the oil pipeline they share with the Chinese.

Poor Sudanese immigrants fear human nature and random events might make immigration to America unpleasant. OOOOOOKAAY. So, what the hell did they expect, Nirvana?
