Strict gun laws supposedly to keep illegal guns out of the wrong hands have once again failed US.

A 21-year old Capitol Hill intern was hit and killed by a stray bullet in our Nation’s Capital. This incident is yet another data point that reaffirms my position to fight any attempts to make it harder for law-abiding US citizens to obtain guns. Why? Because no matter how strict the gun laws, illegal guns are still very easy for criminals to obtain.

When we first got married (1973) I worked in DC when Bechtel was building the metro, like everyone else. We used to go to the mall or Haines Point to watch the fireworks and enjoyed them and the crowds were usually pretty good. Then we watched from across the river on the roofs when Crystal City was going up to avoid the long trip home, still good. I can't imagine how the cops feel looking at noises at night now and crowds when there are running gun battles and drive Bys every night. We can't seem to do anything about it either, and make excuses for this behavior. It looks like we have no idea what we're supposed to be celebrating, just knee jerk behavior.

Strict gun control didn’t fail.

Not when you can drive across a bridge and buy a gun where there is no strict gun control.

So you think most gun crimes are committed by criminals going to other states with not as strict gun laws yet still subject Federal background checks as opposed to criminals simply acquiring the guns illegally through a black market or theft where gun acquisition is untraceable?

We are to wide open of a nation to eliminate guns. To many political views and a political class that allowed many more views to enter and a push for violence from one major party.

Since when has strict gun control stopped gangs from shooting each other with illegal guns?

Is that why the UK, Australia, and New Zealand collectively have less shootings per year then the US has on one Saturday afternoon? When I read posts likes your, Land of the Thick springs to mind.

A law abiding citizen would successfully own a gun in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand if they applied for a licence. It's those that are unsuitable because of their record they decided to create that would fail the application. You guys struggle on this basic concept. Why? IQ issues?

When I was a kid the NRA was welcomed in schools teaching gun safety and handling. Now they are ban from schools being why so many innocent people are killed. Bring back the NRA and teach them to kill each other. Everybody happy!

When you were a kid were there gangs of teenagers jacking cars and robbing people in the street? Did you have a chance to join a ms13 or Mexican gang to sell drugs? Was there a revolving door for career criminals who were repeatedly turned loose and excused for society being their problem? No? Were you taught to hate other people in school because the teachers said you should? I don't think the NRA did all that.

Because those with criminal intent never break the law. Thankfully I live in an area that takes the 2nd very seriously.

I believe all of you idiots wishing to take away the right to bear arms should be forced to stack up and take them from those of us who hold that right sacred. I'm beating money none of you have the guts to back up your bullshit.

If we let dangerous people run around loose it is almost impossible to expect that they won't get guns somehow, some way. And, even if they don't get guns, we are still letting dangerous people run around loose. You don't really need a gun if you are a dangerous person.

Americans with guns are not shooting each other, and use their legal guns lawfully.....criminals in the U.S....in democrat party controlled cities are using their illegal guns for crime......and they are being released, over and over again, by democrat party prosecutors, judges and politicians......that is driving our gun crime rates....but don't worry, your leftists in Britain, Australia and New Zealand are now doing the same thing.....punishing victims, releasing violent criminals....

No....you had less shootings because your criminals were less prone to violence and murder......that is changing because you imported violent men from 3rd world crap holes into your country....

The muslim drug gangs are gunning up in all of those countries, and they are using not only guns, but hand grenades.......you are at the point the U.S. was at in the 1960s, just before violent gun crime exploded here.....up to that point we didn't have lots of gun crime...then drugs became common and the gangs needed to enforce their drug businesses.......
