First of all - if you can stop yourself - don't watch the trailer. Even though I posted it below.

Why? Because it gives too much away that you will enjoy as it occurs. Too many trailers today are essentially - SPOLIER videos. I am glad I listened to reviews that all said DON'T WATCH THE TRAILER.

Watch the movie instead.
It starts out a bit wonky for the first 5 minutes or so as the intro is a bit disjointed. Past that - it gets good. Really good. Willa Fitzgerald who plays the girl - she better get some awards for her performance because - DAMN - she did a great job.
Full of twist and unexpected turns.

Watch the trailer if you must - my advice. Don't.

We tried to watch a Reacher... I found it remarkably stupid
I've read about all the Reacher books. The plots are good but exaction is not. After the first few books, you will be wondering when is Reacher going to beat the shit out of the ten bad guys that surrounds him in the alley, the deserted road, or behind barn. Series was a lot of the same. Alan Ritchson at 6'3" does a good job of looking and acting a lot like Reacher in the novels. If you like the novels, you will probably like the series.

There have been two Rack Reacher movies staring Tom Cruise. Yes, you heard me right. 5'7" Tom Cruise plays 6'5" Rack Reacher. If if doesn't bother you watching a shrimp playing Goliath, then the movies are pretty good. I saw one on Netflix a few nights ago and enjoyed it. Cruise manages the Reacher character pretty well.

It was the cruise one we tried to watch, and yes - showing a then 52 year old man who is 5'7" 170 lbs beating the living crap out of 4-5 men at a time was a bit too much. We turned it off.

Like most action adventure movies today, they are just fantasies.

And it also needs to have believability.
Star Wars is a fantasy, not a shred of reality in it. But if they made Darth Vader where a pink outfit - kinds would effect the movie eh?
Same thing. Putting in a 5'7" 170lb 52 year old in a role that beats up 2-3 paramilitary guys at the same time - is like putting Darth Vader in a pink suit.

The Jack Reacher movie was a bit bland and predictable. Tom Cruise plays a tough guy well because he's been playing though guys for so long. Tom Cruise can pull it off because he uses his size to shock his enemy and audience. He is playing against type that was established in his earlier movies. I probably would have enjoyed the movie more if I had not read all the Reacher books.

The movies sucked, the series is very good. Worth a watch.
